Meet Barbara Baird

Wildlife photographer Barbara Baird has photographed wildlife around the world - from America to Antartica.

Her education includes a BA from the National College of Education in Evanston and a MA from Purdue University in Hammond, IN.

Following an eight-year Land Surveyor Internship, Barbara was active in the profession for over 30 years, retiring in 2003. She was a licensed surveyor in the states of Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin. She founded Baird & Company as Principal and President in 1977 and Baird Land Surveyors, Ltd in 1984. A majority of the company’s work was in the department of Land Acquisition with the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Barbara retired to live in Galena, Illinois, and quickly became involved in preservation organizations.  The influence of Galena and the Natural Area Guardians prompted Barbara to become a serious birder, and later, a serious photographer. Her love of birds led her to specialize in fine art illustrations of wildlife, establishing In Touch with Nature, LLC in 2005.

This site contains a collection of Barbara's favorite photographs.  We hope you enjoy them as much as Barbara enjoyed taking them.
